Being a Nigerian & African has greatly influenced her music, but unlike Fela Anikulapo Kuti, who she grew up listening to she is not concerned with waving the Nigeria flag as a cultural ambassador, saying ”Right now, I belong to the world,”
On breaking America, she says;
It’s every musician’s dream to make it in America. I do hope to tour there more, but for now, I’m content with focusing on Europe and Africa. Her new album Beautiful Imperfection has earned rave reviews & topped the iTunes music chart in France, with the singer being described by BBC Music as “a twenty-first century Bob Marley”.
ASA is doing it major this year, I think the album is grammy worthy and I hope she gets nominated. She starts touring in 2011, check on tour dates here for when she’ll be in your hood.
