Miss Ireland Attacked For Dating Nigerian Boy

21 year old miss Ireland, Emma Waldron has been criticized for dating a 23 year old nigerian called Manners Oshafi. Emma claimed she has been rebukked many times by people for dating a black man; some "racists" went ahead to launch an internet campaign (threatening
more after the jump
her on social networking sites and others) against the young beauty for having a nigerian as boyfriend. Emma was the 4th in the miss world competition held last year.. In spite of all these, Emma refused to let it get to her...this was her reply, concerning the whole issue
"There is only one race, the human race. What matters in friendship and love is the heart and soul of the person you have a relationship with, not their colour, nationality, creed or background. I love my boyfriend with every cell in my body and nothing anyone says will change that. It upsets me that people have negative things to say about a love and friendship that is so beautiful. We don't need others approval.

Style has nothing to do with age......Omowumi Akinnifesi

Omawummi Akinifessi is an ex beauty queen who needs no introduction. Her sense of style oozes elegance and class. It was really no surprise (at least to me ) when she was named Vanguard Allure's style icon of the year....... did i mention the fact that she was on my list of most stylish Nigerians... Women 2010... .
This beauty was the cover girl for Vanguard Allure magazine over the weekend .In it she talks about her most expensive fashion item, her beauty secret, what style means to her,who she is dating, where she sees herself in the next ten years amongst other issues....

How did your style evolve? Did being MGBN influence your dress sense?
Before MBGN, I had always been very stylish and fashionable. But, being MBGN kind of influenced my dress sense in terms of the fact that, formerly, it was just a little more laid back and more casual because I hardly used to go for events.
After winning the crown, it pushed me further to take my style to another level because I had to stand out in the crowd. It pushed me further and I evolved and, style evolves yearly, monthly, weekly, daily. Let’s just say I am more matured in fashion.
How does it feel being in the spotlight? Does it put pressure on you to look good?
As an individual, being in the spotlight, being in the eye of the public, I think it’s more of a challenge in that your private life is very exposed. It’s not private anymore. But, I try to keep my private life to myself as much as possible. And, yes, it is a challenge.
People expect a lot from you and you know what they say: that great power comes with great responsibility. I’m a leader because, for me, being a beauty queen, you are a leader as a woman in terms of fashion, character and personality; in terms of everything. You have to be able to lead in a proper way, show and live by good example because you are going to be inspiring and influencing people.

Does it put pressure on your pocket?
Personally, it

more after the jump
doesn’t affect me at all because, I have always loved fashion. Even if I weren’t a beauty queen, I would still be dressing and looking the same way because, I believe in looking good and being fashionable. It’s not because of being a beauty queen that I dress this way; it’s because I want to. If you look around, you will see that I am not the only one that dresses well. Every Nigerian girl is fashionable, by her hair, her make up; we just like to look beautiful.

So, how do you feel being Allure’s Style Icon for the year, especially being listed with some older people in the industry?
I’m very honoured. It was Omotola (Jalade-Ekeinde) or Ireti Doyle that handed it over to me, the edition in which a lot of people were featured on the Allure cover and I said “Oh yes?”. It was just a passive thing. I didn’t even know what was going on. So, I feel very honoured to have received it. It just goes to show that fashion and style has nothing to do with age. It’s you, the personality that is wearing the outfit and dressing in a particular sense. So, it has nothing to do with age but with grace and beauty and fashion.

How would you describe your style?
My style is very elegant, simple, classy and sophisticated. I don’t go by trend. I go by what makes me happy, what looks good and what will last for the next ten years. I buy timeless pieces. I collect the pieces I know will reign for a long time. Trends are so easily outdated because they have a short life span. So, I believe in timeless pieces.

Who makes your clothes?
House of Nwaocha. I do jewellery by Lisa. I have worn lots of designers in the past, from Mon Ami to Mya.

What is your favourite red carpet look?
I don’t have a favourite red carpet look. It depends on the event that I am going for but I would like the very elegant and classy look. And, I’ll not wear too much; it’s probably one piece, probably a long, flowy, effortless dress. I am wearing the dress, the dress is not wearing me. If you put somebody else in that dress, it probably would look different.

Most prized fashion item?
My most prized would be my Hermes Birken bag and it’s a very large size. That is my most prized right now. I saved for a while to get it (laughs). It didn’t just happen overnight.

How much did it cost?
I’m not going to tell you. No.
So, when it comes to fashion, what will you splurge on?
I will spend a huge amount of money on jewellery, because I can hand them over to my kids. I have lots of timeless pieces and I just see them in the family; like my grandmother passing it over to my mum and the chain continues like that. I see it going from generation to generation. Apart from jewellery, I will do bags.
I know some of my mum’s most expensive bags and purses, wallet purses and things like that are still in my family right now. And, you still see them and still wear them and they are in right now!

Favourite shoe designer?
My favourite shoes… I wouldn’t have an all-time favourite shoe designer. I don’t think it is time to have an all-time favourite shoe designer. Maybe, when I am 70 and I am about to leave the earth, I will have an all-time shoe designer because, more designers will come, more unique pieces will be discovered. So, why stick to one right now? Right now, I will just say I love Christian Louboutin because I think they are stylish, very sophisticated. That is why I like them but I won’t say they are an all-time favourite; because there was a time that Jimmy Choo was so in but right now everybody likes Louboutin. I go to different stores and I see different shoes I like, and that is it for me.

Favorite perfume?
For perfumes, I will say Coco Channel Mademoiselle for night because it is more intense. I also do the Amani Code for evening with friends. Then, for day time, I do Lola by Mac Jacobs or Dazey by Mac Jacobs during the day.

Best beauty secret?
If I have a beauty secret, I am about to tell it to the world. It is not possible (laughs). And, if it were a secret, if I told you, it won’t be anymore. Anyway, I rest that is all. I watch what I eat and what I drink.

Do you exercise?
Well it depends. Sometimes, I do. Sometimes, I don’t. Because, I am the type that doesn’t really need to exercise. I lose weight very easily. I have been blessed with the physic.
What is your relationship life like? Are you into a relationship? You have been linked with some guy at a time. How true is that?
I don’t know. There is nothing to clear. People just guess because I am a very simple person. So, I guess they just look for something to write. I see a lot of people everyday. When I go to events, everybody in Lagos is in the event; all the people known to the public, all the celebrities are there and if I go close to a friend to take pictures with him, people just assume we are dating.
I probably will stop taking pictures with people on the red carpet, because that is where it starts from. And, the only picture the public sees is the red carpet pictures. I will stay with some people for hours taking pictures with them and nothing will come out, but the ones that few individuals just come out and say let’s take a picture and it becomes a problem.
So, these days, when I see my friends, I just tell them: “Please, don’t come close, because they will say we are dating. Just stay there.” And, they even laugh about it as well.
I appreciate Nigerians for trying to link me up with one person or the other; they can continue doing the match-making until they eventually see who it is, or get it right. But next time, they should just make sure it’s Prince Harry.

You had a scandal-free reign as queen. How did you do it?
Well, it is my nature. I am very jovial and so, I really don’t know how to explain that because it is the grace of God. I guess, it is my upbringing as well, the kind of home I am from. I thank my parents for that but I thank God most of all.

What do you have passion for?
Like I said, we have been involved in the fight against climate change, the importance of tree planting to reduce the carbon oxide in the atmosphere. I have been in contact with universities abroad that specialize in these areas: Oxford University, Cambridge University, Queens College, London trying to do stuff with them about the environment and do write-ups.
I am very involved with the environment, with tourism. These are aspects I have ultimate passion for. In this country, we don’t pay attention to the two things that we are supposed to be doing. We don’t concentrate on natural things, which is something we should start focusing on. But for now, I am doing background work. I am doing research and study of things and systems that have worked over there, internationally, because we have much more than they do. If their little system can work over there, imagine what it will do for us here.

So, there are so many things that I intend to do now and in the future. This is a long term thing. It is something I have such deep passion for and I hope to influence that industry by the special grace of God.

When it comes to relaxation, where would be your favourite holiday spot?
I am a tourist. I don’t have a favourite holiday spot. But I go to different places. I am a junky; people call me globe trooper, because every time I have different pictures. I collect pictures from places. I am a tourist. I don’t have one particular location. For me, leisure is going to a new place and experiencing nature. They have unique tourist destinations in different parts of the world.
So, if you ask me where I love the most, I will give you like eight different countries that I love their tourist destinations. I love Paris, it is a very nice place; very relaxed, very soft. Milan is nice as well. Rome itself is a tourist destination. When you are in Rome, you feel like you are in ancient times. Jordan is a wonderful place. There is this place called Petra Park. It is a whole kingdom cut in stones. It will take you like two weeks to walk around the place. So, it is an exquisite place. It is mind blowing.

Where would you love to see yourself in the next ten years?
Where I will love to see myself in the next ten years is in my head and I don’t want to share that. You will see it when the time comes. But for L-Poise, it will be an impact and an inspiration to people and women, more especially.

“My first kiss was in high school, and it was the worst thing ever,,,,,,I do think I’m a bit of a masochist"........Rihanna

Singer Rihanna who might be the hottest cover girl now if you are to judge by the number of magazine covers she has done since the beginning of the year alone, is on the cover of rolling stones magazine. Remember i posted some pics from the magazine here, well  check out excerpts from the interview....

On her first kiss: “My first kiss was in high school, and it was the worst thing ever. He pretty much dumped his entire saliva glands into my mouth. It traumatized me. I didn’t kiss for, like, ever.”

On what she loves in the bedroom: “I like to take charge, but I love to be submissive. Being submissive in the bedroom is really fun. You get to be a little lady, to have somebody be macho and in charge of your shit. That’s sexy to me. I work

more after the jump
a lot, and I have to make a lot of executive decisions, so when it comes to being intimate, I like to feel like I’m somebody’s girl. I like to be spanked. Being tied up is fun. I like to keep it spontaneous. Sometimes whips and chains can be overly planned – you gotta stop, get the whip from the drawer downstairs. . . . I’d rather have him use his hands.”

On her emotional state after the Chris Brown assault: “I put my guard up so hard. I didn’t want people to see me cry. I didn’t want people to feel bad for me. It was a very vulnerable time in my life, and I refused to let that be the image. I wanted them to see me as, ‘I’m fine, I’m tough.’ I put that up until it felt real.”

On her father: “I actually feel really bad for my father. He was abused too – he got beat up by his stepdad when he was young. He has resentment toward women, because he felt like his mom never protected him, and unfortunately, my mother was the victim of that. I’m not giving him excuses. Right is right and wrong is wrong. I still blame him. But I understand the source.”
On how the childhood abuse shaped her: “I do think I’m a bit of a masochist. It’s not something I’m proud of, and it’s not something I noticed until recently. I think it’s common for people who witness abuse in their household. They can never smell how beautiful a rose is unless they get pricked by a thorn. When I think about it, I really do take some pleasure in the negativity. I don’t want to say turned on by it – but I’m turned on by it.”

On her visit to the Sydney sex shop Toolshed, where she left with two full bags of whips, blindfolds and dildos: “Don’t go to a sex store tipsy.”

On the current status of her love life: “I’m not dating. I’m not sexing, I’m not even sexting. It’s on complete nil You think you’re disappointed? [by her lack of sex]. Try being in this body!”

On sexting: “When you’re not with the person you want to be intimate with, a picture is the next best thing. Well, Skype is safer. But a picture lasts a long time. When you’re alone, and those horny moments come up, pictures can be very handy. I haven’t gotten a dick picture in a long time. I think people are a little afraid. It can turn out bad.”
On her name: “I get kind of numb to hearing Rihanna (from the Arabic for “sweet basil.”), Rihanna, Rihanna. When I hear Robyn (her first name), I pay attention.”

Genevieve Nnaji On CNN's African Voices (Full length Video)

Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji recently made a second appearance on CNN (2nd time within a year). This time around it was on their show 'African Voices'.

When She was asked by CNN's correspondent Pedro Pinto, about what she does not like and want changed about Nigeria, this is what she had to say:
“I like that as Nigerians as we are, we have some sort of neighborly love that we don’t understand, we have a way of coming to the rescue of complete strangers, we do have that bond and I think it has to do with our background and how we are raised and how Nigerians in a whole have been made to be morally. It’s like you have a moral duty to your society, to yourself, to your family so it’s like everybody’s business is everybody’s business. It’s a bad thing sometimes, but it does have its good sides. You know, so that is something that we are. We probably don’t know as a people and if we don’t know we should know it now, it’s a good thing. What I don’t like about Nigeria…man, I never diss my own country, man! You know, whatever negativity is in a country is in every other country; it’s in every other part of the world. So, the thing is everyone needs to be treated as individuals and not a collective nation. You don’t judge one person or judge one person by another person’s faults. So, I just take every Nigerian the way I see them. I would never live anywhere else to be honest, no.”

Chidinma of Koko Mansion

Comedian Cd John

The  car CD John had the accident
I'm so sorry i have been away. I noticed something here and was trying to rectify it.This week was indeed a cocktail of emotions for me.I was trying to digest the death of talented comedian CD John when the death of 22 year old Chidinma of reality show the koko mansion came in. I actually got an SOS message on my BM asking that anyone with a specific blood type leaving in Kaduna should help save a life. Had the intention of appealing to you guys the following day, little did I know  it will be too late.      These deaths brings up alot of issues concerning the state of our roads, the negligence in our hospitals and even our
more after the jump
own driving culture.
I know that we have issues about government funding of public hospitals, but  they should always be prepared for eventualities like these.
The state of our roads! what can i say...just look at Benin Ore road then you will know what i am talking about. Alot of money has been dedicated to the repairs of that road and others like it in the pa, all to no no avail.
Then let us look at our ourselves. When travelling if you are in a vehicle where the driving is driving above the normal speed limit, please, please! all the passengers in the vehicle should caution the driver, if he does not heed to your plea, please alight from that vehicle. No matter the urgency of your journey, your life is more precious than anything. Another important one is the issue of drinking and driving. Please, please if you know (or people around you notice) that you are drunk, do not go behind the wheels. When travelling in a commercial vehicle, and you smell alcohol in the driver's breadth, request for another driver. No hard feelings but 'your life precious no be small'.
While this may not be the time to talk about anything political, it brings back the issue of having the right leaders who will do the right thing for the people.
Above all, you can not rule out saying a word of prayer to God before every journey.
While these things can not not bring back the dead, they can help prevent any future occurrence .
May the souls of CD John , Chidinma and every other person who died this week  Rest In Peace.

My Kids Will Have A Better Life With Their Dual Citizenship.....Oge Okoye

Nollywood actress Oge Okoye  may have been away for a while, but she is back and ready to take over the movie world. The actress who just returned from London where she had her second baby granted an interview recently. In it she talks about her husband thinking she was a prostitute, her kids, her clothing line and what she will not do in he movie industry this year because she thinks it's degrading.Excerpts ....
Why did you choose to have your baby in London? I feel more at ease in London than any other country. Don’t forget that I was born there too. Besides, I want a better life for my kids.
Does it have something to do with the citizenship thing? Of course yes. I am a British too. I just want a good life for them when they get older and also for them to be able to move around the world freely without hiccups. I believe they will have a better life with their British citizenship.
Are you saying you don’t believe or have faith in Nigeria?
I just know that the step I took for my kids on their nationality is the best for them. I know what I am doing honestly. Nigeria is a good country and there is hope of it becoming better but I have my reasons. My kids will all have British citizenship.
As a married woman with your hubby not always around, does he feel comfortable with the clubbing habit?
As a matter of fact, whenever he is in town we go clubbing together. He lives abroad and I grew up in London too, so we both have
more after the jump
a better understanding of unwinding at clubs once in a while. When he is not around, I go with my friends. Of course there are limits, and I don’t go beyond my limit, I am not an extremist on clubbing matters. I do things with moderation.

How do you feel now that you are blessed with a boy and a girl?
I am so happy and thankful to almighty God for making me a complete woman. You know, the joy of every mother is to have a baby boy and a baby girl. We first had a boy and now a girl. We wouldn’t have wished for more. I feel so, so great.
How do you intend to cope with the pressure of raising two kids considering your career as an actress?
That’s not an issue at all. When I had my first baby I got a lot of help from my mum and my domestic staff too. I never allowed the movie thing to affect the mother-child relationship between us. I always came back early to make sure he was okay though my mum was around to look after him till he became a big boy. My children’s care can never suffer for my career. As much as the job is important, the home front is equally inevitable and must come first. I blend the two together perfectly such that none suffers for the other. My baby boy is grown now and he goes to school. When I first came back in December, I worked only in Lagos because my new baby was still very young but now I can do some jobs outside Lagos because she is a few months older. Having two kids cannot be an issue for me.
Why do people think you are a club freak?
I don’t understand what you mean by a club freak. Does it mean I can’t unwind or what exactly do you mean? Club houses are meant to unwind and it’s not that it’s a bad thing going to clubs. I am a very busy person so I don’t club as often as people say, but once in a while I do unwind at clubhouses with my friends.
As a married woman with your hubby not always around, does he feel comfortable with the clubbing habit?
As a matter of fact, whenever he is in town we go clubbing together. He lives abroad and I grew up in London too, so we both have a better understanding of unwinding at clubs once in a while. When he is not around, I go with my friends. Of course there are limits, and I don’t go beyond my limit, I am not an extremist on clubbing matters. I do things with moderation.
How did you meet him?
My husband is from Imo State. He is Stanley Duru. I met him on a set while shooting in a club. The interesting thing is that at first he thought I was a prostitute. According to him, he didn’t know we were shooting. When he saw me and with what I had on, he was discouraged but he told his friend, ‘look at this fine girl, I’m going to bring her out of this lifestyle and marry her’. Then his friend told him that I was an actress and that we were shooting. They waited for us to finish shooting and one thing led to the other. We exchanged phone numbers and that was it. Of course, I didn’t take him seriously then because it’s one thing to exchange phone numbers and it’s another thing to follow up. People call my phone number every now and then, even those who I didn’t give the number. He kept calling and after a while I saw that he was serious and decided to give him a chance. That was how it started and ended in marriage.
How far have you gone with your fashion project?
Activities to make the establishment a success are in top gear. I hope to launch it before the end of the year by God’s grace.
Will it be strictly feminine stuff or unisex?
For now I plan to do just the feminine stuff but with time we might do men too depending on the demand.
How do you plan to raise your bar in Nollywood?
How I intend to step up my game is to come out with good movies and not just be on the set for every movie, good or bad. I intend to stand out for excellence and perfection. Right now, before I move into any set I will look at the script very well and if I am comfortable with the story, I am in. You don’t expect me to show my face in any quack movie that may later have a bad effect on I want to entertain my fans in a way they will love to be entertained, so I try to keep my game up in the industry. One thing I know is that wishy-washy movies will only degrade you and since I’m not in the industry just for money, I will be choosy about the films I feature in. If I had entered the industry because of money, I would probably be acting anything for huge amount of money. The purpose of shooting a movie is to teach people some moral lessons, something that will have positive impact on people, something very meaningful that they will make something useful out of it.

Blazin Hot Video .... Nollywood Hustlers Trailer

Watch it after the jump.

The Politics of "Our Time". Written by eLDee.

Integrity requires three steps: discerning what is right and what is wrong; acting on what you have discerned, even at personal cost; and saying openly that you are acting on your understanding of right from wrong." – Stephen L Carter
Months ago, before the 2011 voter registration exercise began in Nigeria some of us were very excited as we saw this as an opportunity to effect the much-needed change in our country. I geared up and began non-partisan campaigns aimed at youths in Nigeria to ensure that they register, vote, and protect their votes. I spent at least four to six hours everyday campaigning on social network platforms, TV/Radio, and print media. My team and I did everything we could from explaining the process, to following people on twitter who posted pictures of their registration cards, to giving away cellphone airtime and even went as far as helping local INEC officials with some of the technical difficulties they faced at the commencement of the registration exercise.

We are currently working on an incidence
more after the jump
reporting initiative to help curb election malpractices. What's in it for me you might ask...like I tell everyone who has asked me, some of us just really believe in a better Nigeria. If I have the resources to make change, I wont hesitate to put it towards just that. I am Nigerian, I have a daughter who is Nigerian and I would love to see my daughter raised in this country. I am a true patriot and I have consistently promoted the idea that the Nigerian situation can and should improve with the right leadership.
During the voters’ registration campaign, I got together with a few friends and colleagues of mine to discuss ways to increase youth participation in the democratic process of our country using our music platform. During one of those discussions, we came up with the idea to have multiple concerts across the country, which would only be accessed by registered voters. It felt like a great idea because with this initiative, we could all join forces and get more attention from our intended demographic. Household names such as PSquare, D’banj, eLDee, Tuface, MI, Banky W, Naeto C, Sound Sultan, Timaya, Wizkid, Duncan Mighty and the likes, would easily fill up arenas in any city so why not have a free concert that people can only be a part of if they present their voters registration card.  To the best of my knowledge, we came up with a tag called “Our time” for the concert series. In order to avoid the initiative being politicized, we agreed to raise funds through non-partisan means alone.
We put little resources together and quickly shot TV commercials since there were only a few days left of the voter registration period. The commercials were immediately published on TV/Internet and it generated a good amount of attention. At the end of the voter registration period, there was overwhelming evidence of the success of the initiative and we all looked forward to entertaining our registered voter fans at the concert series.
Fast forward to March 17, 2011. I am watching television and I see a commercial that looked just like the one we shot for our campaign. It was indeed footage from our voter registration initiative commercial, however this version was manipulated to suit a different purpose. The new edit describes a free concert featuring D’banj, Tuface, MI, eLDee, PSquare, BankyW, Duncan Mighty, Wizkid and others, which supposedly holds in Abuja on March 25, 2011 and totally omits our voter registration campaign initiative. The advert now ends with a different tagline, “supported by Our Time Group, Youths rising up for GEJ.” I immediately had a cold feeling of shock, betrayal, deceit, and misrepresentation because this was the exact opposite of what we created the initiative for. Now I was being touted as a representative of the youth in support of the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan presidential campaign. What’s even more interesting is that Silverbird TV ran this new advert before and after the Dbanj interview with Goodluck Jonathan, as if it were part and parcel of that GEJ campaign initiative. I called all parties involved to express my disapproval and disgust at how anyone would take such an innocent initiative and manipulate it to misrepresent the interest and support of the youth. To my dismay, another slap in the face came in the form of a full-page newspaper advert in The Vanguard of March 22, 2011 with my picture, among others artists, advertising the same GEJ Presidential campaign concert.
It is sad and indeed worrying that people continue to take advantage of good intentions and initiatives for selfish and corrupt purposes. I use this medium to make public that I have never, and even more so now will never be a part of any campaign for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, therefore please do not expect me to be at the supposed concert. Let me be clear, I have nothing against the supposed concert and its participants; I just prefer to be consulted about such a manipulation of interest beforehand. I have never received any money or gift of any kind from any member or supporter of the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan presidential campaign or any presidential campaign for that matter, neither have I volunteered my services in support of any such campaign. I’ll be glad to announce if and when I do but until then, I don’t appreciate my image and likeness being exploited for political purposes without my consent.

If Aaliyah Was Alive, She’d Be “Neck And Neck” With Beyoncé......Ginuwine

Guess years after her death, talented singer and hip hop icon Aaliyah is still being compared with new artists today. R & B singer and friend Ginuwine, says it’s nothing to shun. “Ain’t nothing wrong with that,” he says. “I think everyone should aspire to be someone great, and that was one of the greats. Aaliyah was one of the great ones.”
“Aaliyah was in a class by herself,” Ginuwine tells The BoomBox. “If you’re talking

triple threat of a writer, singer and actress, that would probably be Beyoncé. If Aaliyah were still here, she and Beyoncé would be neck and neck.”
