IS A MIXTAPE THE SAME AS AN ALBUM?

A mixtape is usually a collection of songs or rap lyrics made over other people’s beats.It is not an album and can not be released by a record company because it is illegal to sell mixtapes that include feestyles over another rapper's beat unless the use of the beat has been paid for. A mixtape requires less money to compile.Most new rap artist use it as a way of promoting themselves  and making themselves popular till they get signed by a record label. An album is released through a record company. The album is usually what you can find in the stores and looks more official.
