Nigeria's ruling party (the P.D.P )has said that it intends to retain zoning in the forth coming presidential elections, but that it will leave the race open to other interested party members from other zones who may wish to contest.
The decision was taken by the national executive committee of the party, after a meeting that was attended by the senate president, the speaker of the House of representatives and some state governors.
