Jackson is the highest earning dead celebrity

Michael Jackson has been named Forbes Magazine's  top earning dead celebrity.

Although Jackson never made the highest earning celebrity list while he was alive, he has made his debut on the list in a big way, making more than anyone dead
or  alive apart from Oprah.
Jackson not only took the No.1 spot on the 10th annual ranking of the Top-Earning Dead Celebrities, with gross earnings of $275 million, but he made more money than the other 11 deceased celebrities that made the list combined!

His estate's 12-month haul was greater than overall income of the two biggest alive musical acts this year, U2 and AC/DC. Jackson's earning comes from a variety of different things, that include his Sony catalog, his movie "This Is It," and a renewed fan interest in music and videos that starred the King of Pop.

The list
Michael Jackson - $275 million
Elvis Presley - $60 million
J.R.R. Tolkien - $50 million
Charles Schultz - $33 million
John Lennon - $17 million
 Steig Larsson
Dr. Suess (Theodor Geisel)
Albert Einstein
George Steinbrenner
 Richard Rodgers
Jimi Hendrix ties with Steve McQueen,
Aaron Spelling.
